The pre-summit preparation was insane, sometimes even frustrating, I have to admit I was sometimes irritated that I had to do more work cos' Steffi and Tze Lin were both SUPER busy, but Steffi's praises/insults kept me going luh. And seriously, I like my work. Extremely unusual for me, but I genuinely liked the stuff I was researching about and I thought it was fascinating. It definitely helped in GP and I could spout random facts. It sure as heck gave me a sense of achievement. And besides, I learned so much from the both of them, and I laughed so much as well, all in all, working with those 2 was definitely an enjoyable experience! =)) I wanna do it again!! =/
Now its down to the summit itself, I think this post is gonna be bloody insanely long if I don't split it up, so I'm probably gonna cover day by day, post by post.
Day 1 ----> I went to the hostel to send the delegates to school and the bus was LATE.. -.- Apparently, they didn't know that they were supposed to come. -.- In anycase, I don't think that made Joseph very happy, cos' he looked quite pissed off. I sat next to the Taiwan teacher on the bus and she started chatting to me about everything and anything, OMG, I think my Chinese has totally deteriorated.. =( In anycase, we arrived at the school at least 30 minutes late and then I ran to the Admin Room (AR) and I SWEAR TO GOD I HATE COURT SHOES... =(( By then, Steffi and Tze Lin had set up the room liao... (THANKS GALS!!) All that remained was for me to dump my stuff there and set up the laptops etc. Opening Ceremony was bloody boring and long, PAC was FREEZING and Rebecca was very very cute and nervous! =))
After that, committee session started. It was all very -.- honestly, ok, delegates reading this, I'm just gonna give you a brutally honest view of the summit, I'm sure you would agree with me also on the things I'm gonna say. Alright, it was all very -.-, because we were prompting them like crazy, and yet no one would step up and do something. Granted, all of them were first-timers, but how hard is it to raise your placard and just motion for something? Thank God for people like Varsha, Janice, Dee Jee and even Hanis! =)) I swear Steffi was going tear her hair out already... haha.. =D So they finally decided to talk about OT, which shocked us really, cos' we were expecting UPH, plus OT was a super hard topic to reach a resolution on and we were considering prompting the council to change topic. But the delegates stuck to it so we decided to give them a chance. =) I'm not gonna talk about the whole committee session cos' that would take too long and there are a few sensitive points inside in anycase..
In conclusion, committee session of first day was almost a total flop, but oh oh, Steffi let me chair for a while, which was really freakishly nerve-wracking, thank goodness Jun Wei turned up halfway and helped! Thanks!! =))
Debrief could be summed up in 2 words: BITCH FEST!!! hahahaha, it's true, and good cos' it let us let off steam and release all the tension, it was nice to know that most of the other councils were facing the same problems! =D
P.S. I really had no friggin clue that Michelle Kwek from NYGH was THE Michelle Kwek that I knew.. Oh man.. I need to be more alert next time... hahaha, seriously, I got a total shock when I saw her enter the room!! =O
Day 2 is coming up! =)
